Diese Pr�zisierung verdankt sich den 150 zeitgen�ssischen, zum Teil unver�ffentlichten Dokumenten �ber die Ereignisse dieses halben Jahres, eine Materialsammlung f�r alle diejenigen, die sich f�r die Krankheitsgeschichte von Lenz und deren sozial- und geistesgeschichtliche Zusammenh�nge interessieren. Vorangestellt ist ein ausf�hrlicher chronikalischer Bericht, der sich auf die Dokumente st�tzt und auf dieser Grundlage den Verlauf der Ereignisse rekonstruiert. Neben einer knapp gehaltenen Vor- und Nachgeschichte gliedert sich die Chronik in drei Abschnitte: In die Zeit, in die Lenz' auff�lliges Verhalten in Z�rich und Emmendingen sowie sein Aufenthalt in Winterthur f�llt, in seinen literargeschichtlich folgenreichen Aufenthalt im Steintal sowie in die Zeit in Stra�burg und Emmendingen, wo Lenz' psychische Krise besonders deutlich war. Der Anhang bietet Abbildungen, ein Orts- sowie ein mit biographischen Daten versehenes Personenregister.
