Das Werk enthalt nicht nur zahlreiche geistlich-lyrische Beitrage des fuhrenden Barockdichters Georg Philipp Harsdorffer (1607-1658), sondern auch 21 Atzradierungen des Nurnberger Malers, Zeichners und Radierers Georg Strauch (1613-1675). Diese wiederum basieren z. T. auf Bildvorlagen, die sich in den "Pia Desideria" des flamischen Jesuiten Hermann Hugo (1588-1629) befinden, einem enorm erfolgreichen Erbauungsbuch, das erstmals 1624 in Antwerpen erschienen war und zahlreiche Auflagen erlebte.
