F�r diese Sammlung religionssoziologischer Aufs�tze hatte er vier B�nde vorgesehen. Vom ersten Projekt waren zum Zeitpunkt seines Todes drei Kapitel abgeschlossen und ein viertes begonnen, vom zweiten Projekt der erste Band im Satz. Im Zentrum dieses unvollendeten Doppelprojekts steht die Rationalisierungsproblematik , die Frage, wie sich der Rationalismus des okzidentalen Kulturkreises von dem anderer Kulturkreise unterscheidet und wie er entstanden ist. Wolfgang Schluchter geht in den hier vorgelegten Studien dem lebens- und werkgeschichtlichen Zusammenhang sowie dem systematischen Ertrag dieses Doppelprojekts nach. Seine Untersuchungen lassen sich zugleich auch als eine Einf�hrung in die neue Fassung von "Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft" und in die "Gesammelten Aufs�tze zur Religionssoziologie" verstehen. Die Studien sind als Einleitungen zu den B�nden I/9, I/18 und I/23 der Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe entstanden und werden hier in leicht ver�nderter Form wieder vorgelegt.
