The tractate, for which there is no Gemara in the Babylonian Talmud, provides abundant material on agriculture in Israel in antiquity. This is the first time it has been published in a German translation. A detailed commentary, which makes use of the traditional as well as the modern commentaries, and an index facilitate the understanding and the use of the text. German description: Der Traktat 'Orla ist die vorletzte derjenigen Ordnung, die sich mit den Problemen der Landwirtschaft beschaftigt. Er behandelt das in Leviticus 19,23-25 vorgeschriebene Gebot, dass man die Fruchte eines im Land Israel neu gepflanzten Baumes in den ersten drei Jahren nicht verzehren darf. Sie werden mit der Vorhaut ('Orla) verglichen, und gelten als unbeschnitten. Im vierten Jahr sollen sie in Jerusalem verzehrt werden, und erst im funften Jahr sind sie zum Genuss freigegeben. Es werden alle denkbaren Moglichkeiten diskutiert. So wird z.B. unterschieden, ob ein Baum als Bauholz, zur Einzaunung oder zum Genuss der Fruchte gepflanzt worden ist. Wie verfahrt man, wenn der Baum genau auf der Grenze zwischen dem Land Israel und dem Ausland steht? Wie geht man mit Baumen um, die von selbst gewachsen sind? Einen breiten Raum nimmt die Frage ein, was geschieht, wenn eine geringe Menge von 'orlapflichtigen Fruchten mit anderen Fruchten vermengt wird und wie uberhaupt bei Vermengungen von verschiedenen Vorschriften unterliegenden Produkten zu verfahren ist. Ein weiterer Fragenkomplex behandelt das Problem, wie Schalen oder Holz von 'orlapflichtigen Fruchten zu behandeln sind. Der Traktat, zu dem es im Babylonischen Talmud keine Gemara gibt, bietet eine Fulle von Material uber das Landwirtschaftswesen im Land Israel in der Antike. Der Traktat erscheint hier zum ersten Mal in einer deutschen Ubersetzung. Dabei wurden die verschiedenen Textzeugen sowie die haufigen Paralleluberlieferungen herangezogen.
