Die vorliegende Studie erprobt an diesem begrenzten Textbestand M�glichkeiten und Grenzen der Erschlie�ung von Fassungsvarianten, die den erhaltenen Handschriften zeitlich vorausgehen. Einen Anhaltspunkt hierf�r liefern die bereits im 19. Jh. konstatierten spezifischen Verteilungsverh�ltnisse von Wort- und Versvarianten in der �berlieferung. Diese n�mlich f�hren zur Vermutung, dass die Neidhart-�berlieferung auf eine Vorlage mit Wahlm�glichkeiten zur�ckgeht - d.h. auf eine Vorlage, die zu einzelnen Textelementen alternative Lesarten bot, zwischen denen bei der Liedproduktion gew�hlt werden konnte. Auf der Basis dieses Textentstehungsmodells l�sst sich - so die These des vorliegenden Buches - die in R angezeigte Fassungsvarianz weitgehend rekonstruieren. Das Buch liefert damit einen grundlegenden Beitrag zur �berlieferungsgeschichte und Textkritik von Neidharts Liedern.
