Dealing with color is a complex subject: influenced by standards, fashions, and trends, we derive our ideas and concepts from color theories, intuition, and personal preferences. The color swatches and systems for describing color common today are based on purely quantitative principles and include well over 1,500 colors. So how do we choose a particular color? More than ten years ago, the color chemist Katrin Trautwein established a pigment factory, starting out from Le Corbusier's color palette. She now has more than 900 recipes for paint from which she has proposed - based on her work with architects, designers, and historical preservationists - a selection of 128 colors that produce pleasant results on their own and also combine well. Each color is presented with a sample; their potential uses and significance are also discussed. Katrin Trautwein has lectured throughout the world on how to approach colors, given seminars, given expert opinions, advised architects, taught painters, and worked as a restorer.

New. 3034603177. *** FREE UPGRADE to Courier/Priority Shipping Upon Request ***-*** IN STOCK AND IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE FOR SHIPMENT-Flawless copy, brand new, pristine, never opened--Text in English. 296 pages; 128 full page color samples. Description: "The color manufacturer Katrin Trautwein (KT. COLORS) went back to see colors as a material, rather than a mathematical equation. She asked herself what would happen, if colors were being selected again according to considerations of coloring materials and their history of use. Her book 128 COLORS takes into account the rich compendium of cultural meaning that arose in the course of the human endeavor to create poetic and expressive paints. In over three decades of her work with architects and designers she now presents us her intuitive collection of colors that includes and extends the 1959 Polychromie. Each color is laid out along its story, in its spatial qualities, historical pigmentation, industrial pigmentation and façade suitability. The CMYK and RGB approximations are a useful addition to this on-site working tool. To make this book as a print product almost 100% true to the paint products a range of color specialists were assembled: pre-press, print, color and binding specialists translated the colors within the Aniva Scale plus an addition of another 12 true colors from the Pantone Scale. The binding allows to pick each bled-off color sheet and embed it into a surrounding."--with a bonus offer--
