Mit dem beschr�nkten Vokabular k�nnen so in k�rzester Zeit zahllose �usserungen produziert werden, was einerseits Vertrautheit mit dem Vokabular mit sich bringt, andererseits durch die Repetitivit�t die Inhalte ausblendet und damit zur w�nschbaren Konzentration auf die grammatischen Strukturen und zu deren Festigung f�hrt. Der erste Teil enth�lt einen �bungsschl�ssel und eine Schreibhilfe sowie ein W�rterbuch mit dem gesamten Vokabular des Lehrbuchs. In diesem Teil sind gegen�ber der ersten Auflage nur geringf�gige Verbesserungen vorgenommen worden. Der zweite Teil umfasst dreissig aufbereitete Ausz�ge aus antikchinesischen Quellentexten. Er f�hrt das Konzept der ersten Auflage weiter und umfasst vollst�ndige Glossare und umfangreiche Grammatiknotizen zu jeder �usserung. Eine Besonderheit ist die systematische und aktualisierte Einbeziehung des state-of-the-art der historischen Phonologie und Morphologie. Diese erm�glicht einen sehr viel pr�ziseren Zugang zu morphologischen und etymologischen Beziehungen innerhalb des antikchinesischen Wortschatzes. Systematische Verweise auf morpho-syntaktische Parallelen zeigen die N�tzlichkeit eines Blickes hinter den allzu bezaubernden Schleier der Schriftzeichen. Autor: Robert H. Gassmann, *1946 in Lahore (British India), war von 1985 bis 2008 Inhaber eines Lehrstuhls für Sinologie an der Universität Zürich. Sein Hauptinteresse gilt der antikchinesischen Kultur und deren überliefertem Schrifttum. Er ist langjähriges Vorstandsmitglied der Schweizerischen Asiengesellschaft und Herausgeber der Zeitschrift Asiatische Studien / Études asiatiques. Zu seinen wichtigsten Publikationen zählen die Studie Cheng Ming: Richtigstellung der Bezeichnungen (1988), Antikchinesisches Kalenderwesen (2002) und Verwandtschaft und Gesellschaft im alten China: Begriffe, Strukturen und Prozesse (2006). Eine Gesamtübersetzung des Mèngz (Mencius) ist in Vorbereitung. Wolfgang Behr, *1965 in Göttingen, promovierte 1997 mit der Arbeit Reimende Bronzeinschriften und die Entstehung der chinesischen Endreimdichtung. Seine Forschungsinteressen gelten u.a. der Historischen Phonologie, Etymologie und Paläographie des Chinesischen sowie der Kulturgeschichte der Sprachwissenschaft im vormodernen China. Von 2003 bis 2007 war er Präsident der European Association of Chinese Linguistics und ist derzeit einer der Herausgeber der mehrbändigen Encyclopedia of Chinese Linguistics. Nach einer langjährigen Tätigkeit als Akademischer Rat an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum ist er seit 2008 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Sinologie (Traditionelles China) an der Universität Zürich.
