This curriculum unit is designed to teach the concepts of Morality and Principles using children and adolescent literature. It is intended to build the confidence of young children to be aware of consequences of choices in their lives and to be able to make productive decisions in their lives. Children will read The Morals and Principle Pals in the Track Meet. Using the characters in the book, children will identify character traits that build success in life. The culminating project will be to create a presentation to show others how to utilize the life skills learned in the unit. The focus of the unit is for children in elementary or middle school. It is appropriate for schools, after school programs, and summer programs. It is primarily designed for inner city children and young adults although the concepts of healthy, strong morals and principles can be used in all settings.
