GREAT BOOK FOR GIRLS!! History is our past. It is something that we study in school and learn about in books and sometimes on television and in movies. We may think about it as something that has happened. This is true. But we must also see that what happens today or tomorrow may be in the history books soon. Think about what has happened recently. Was there a new invention? Maybe there was a new discovery? Did someone win an election? All of these things could become history one day. History is very much alive. It happens every day. Somethings may seem more important than others. You might not even think about something being important when it happens, but it might be. Both men and women can make history. One woman made history in the state of Illinois. In 1992, the first African-American woman, Carol Moseley-Braun was elected to the United States Sen. This would not be the only time she made history. It is not the only important thing she did. Another time was in the year 2004. Carol Moseley-Braun ran for President. She had hope. She wanted to become the first woman President of our country. She did not win, but this does not mean her running was not important. It was. It was very important and Carol Moseley-Braun continued to do great things for the people. She will always be remembered for her hard work and the great things she has done.
