This was the second book I'd read by author Naomi Hirahara. And in comparison, it seemed to start slow. But after finishing the book, I see that she was gently weaving a story that was both complex and simple: a classic WhoDunit! As her protagonist says so many times over, it's Shave Ice, not Shaved Ice, as the brief blurb for this book on this site states. In all, it was a satisfying read with an unexpected ending - just the way it should be. Highly recommend. Gene
