This is a wonderful book about a wonderful ride in a wonderful contest. The participants must indeed be of iron constitution to have survived this contest of endurance. I could never ride more than ten hours a day. Maybe I needed a better saddle. These riders would ride that far before stopping for gas. I admire their stamina. I admire Ayres' book. I urge you to read it and its sequel.

Wonderful reading.
I loved this book. It kept me very interested and I had trouble putting it down. What these riders go through and what they accomplish in the Iron Butt Rally is unbelieveable. The way the book is written almost makes you think you are part of the adventure. I am a slow reader, but I read this book in two evenings, mostly during TV commercials. I wisn I could find more books like this.
