Characterized by symptoms such as easy distractability, low tolerance of frustration or boredom, a tendency to impulsivity and a predilection for situations of high intensity, the condition, if untreated, persists into adulthood. Long misunderstood, the disorder now responds to treatment by a combination of therapy and drugs.
