Having spent the past two years in hiding following a daring and successful heist, a big -time robber is back in Minneapolis, having spotted the opportunity for an even greater steal. It's a couple of weeks before the big Republican party convention: thousands of people spending cash, which is flowing into a relatively inadequate Brinks warehouse, protected by only three or four armed guards. The robber's plan is to distract the cops by manipulating and alerting them to a possible assassination attempt. Lucas Davenport meanwhile has problems of his own, targeted by a psychopathic pimp, who blames Davenport for the fact he's in a wheelchair. Only it's not Davenport he's going after; it's his innocent daughter, Letty.

Good plot - easy reading. All of Sandford's work is refreshing. It is the kind of story you don't want to end.

Sandford does it again
The book was excellent, the condition was excellent.
I've never been disappointed in any of his books. I've read all the "prey" books and am waiting for the last "flowers" book. Don't know what to do without Lucas to look forward to. Not expecting a great deal from the TV movie next week. Mark Harmon is no Lucas Lavenport.

Still the best
After all his books with Lucas Davenport I was afraid he might be writing just to be writing. No. He is still at the top of his game and even better if that is possible.
Fiction is not really my type of book, but I read "Rules of Prey" many years ago in desperation for something to read. I was hooked instantly. John Sandford is still among the very few fiction writers I like. Another being Tolkien.
There is no one like him. I have recommended his "prey" series to many friends
