Strong Debut
An odd, mesmerizing debut novel that mixes history and drama with honest to goodness science fiction. Like most debuts, there were elements of the story that just didn't work for me. While I had great sympathy for Gob and his cast of grieving companions, there was nothing about Adrian's writing that made me really invest myself in the story. I did, however, like the concluding of message of how powerful grief can be. It would be accurate to say that part, if not most of Gob, died the day Tomo perished and the story of Gob after that event was just a formality before Gob's own conclusion.
