Terrific book, with regards to the writer. All of her books are good and make me feel like I am a part of the era and the family.

A Regency romance for today
The subtext to this novel exposes the nobility of soldiers, particularly the male protagonist, who agrees to marry the sister of one of his men in order to save their family from ruin. More apropos to today, however, this story shows how a loving woman can help a commanding officer erase the mental effects of war and return to being a contented civilian. In my list of Balogh books, this is my third favorite after Slightly Dangerous and The Temporary Wife.
