Despu�s de todo un a�o acompa�ado por los peque�os dioses o h�roes ta�nos, me queda la satisfacci�n, al menos, de ofrecer un compendio que trata de recoger las principales muestras de su comportamiento est�tico. He le�do con mucho inter�s el original de este libro y puedo decir que, en mi opini�n, es uno de los mejores an�lisis del arte antiguo americano que yo conozco, en este caso circunscrito a una colecci�n de idolillos antillanos muy poco o mal estudiados hasta el presente. La parte descriptiva y anal�tica podr�a compararse con los estudios, ya cl�sicos, de Tatiana Proscouriakoff sobre la escultura maya, al tiempo que la interpretaci�n de estos materiales art�sticos se halla en la mejor l�nea del an�lisis antropol�gico del arte antiguo.
