This is a very important book for anyone with the slightest interest in Taiwan. It is about the mess that the US made in allowing Chiang Kai-Shek to establish a "Nationalist" (KMT) government on Taiwan (formerly Formosa). It is very well written, by an author who was with the State Department in Formosa during these events.
Unfortunately, this Camphor Press edition is not very good. The biggest problem is that while they re-set the text, they neglected to include an index. I have it on my "to-do" list to look for a copy of an earlier edition that does have an index, and I advise any potential reader to do the same.
