A Napoleon Bonaparte Mystery
Arthur Upfield spent his life in Australia, and has written many "Bony" mysteries.
Napoleon Bonaparte is half Aborigine and half "white" and combines the best of both races. I have read a few and I enjoy them very much.
This one is set in the harsh wilderness west of more settled areas of Australia. There are a series of murders which Napoleon has been (he is a a investigator for the police) dispatched to solve. The character involved are divided between the towns people and the "ranch" people. Bony is undercover (his usual way of investigating)....and he plans a great way of catching the murderer! Can't reveal much more than that...This is very light reading, but full of character and fun.
