This is Ms. Ungers first foray into mystery writing. Unlike most first novels, it rocked. Traditionally most writers are good, and progress to excellent.
Ms. Unger started out as excellent and has maintained that through the rest of her novels.
He character development is great, her writing wry at times, noir at others.
I highly recommend this and the rest of her tomes. She rules.

Excellent!!
This is the first book I read by Lisa Unger and I already look forward to the next. "Beautiful Lies" is a great thriller with an interesting heroine - smart and funny. Loved it.

Entertaining
I give this book a 3 simply because I don't really particulary enjoy this genre. If I did, I might give it a 4 but I'm not well read enough in this genre to make that judgement. Still I found it a quick, easy read. I liked the style the writer chose--a sort of first person, past tense. The prologue made me really tense and a little on edge but the book did not seem to keep that level of tension for me (I was looking forward to that "on edge" feeling for the entire book). I was fairly entertained and I think that for this book at least, I liked the fact that it was a little bit predictable. I think it would appeal more to female readers.

Exciting in a strange way.
First time author and what a good job. Got me in straight away and another quick read. A thriller but generally about life and what could have happened to you or me. Can't wait to see what's around the corner and on the next page. I love a book that makes one feel involved and this one did. You never know what life can dish out and this poor character has certainly received a punch.
