What a great book! We have here a collection of recipes published in magazines during the second World War, and a delicious collection it is. I doubt that we today could come up with such tasty, comforting dishes under the duress and scarcity of ingredients that the ladies had then. Every recipe is updated for today's equipment (a handy thing when your milk doesn't come in bottles anymore, I suppose), and every one that I've tried has been good. A good book to keep in mind when you are on a budget, as the ingredients are thrifty and often use up leftovers in creative ways. Very appreciated and turned to often!
