Years after the end of the war between the forces of the Nations and the Earthbound, which many among the wise felt might end time and existence, a remote settlement founded in the aftermath of the bloodshed and ruin rears a child some suspect will prove either to be the savior of the world or its destroyer. Fifteen years later, millennia after the mythic War of the Furies, when the forces of the Earthbound were first chained to the Third Plane, Perdition, rumors of the Furies resurfaced, for the chaining had been marred. Too soon and incomplete. And three of the Furies were still free. Thousands of years later, Luc Anaris had no idea he would be thrust into the heart of the primeval conflict or that its focal point would come to rest on him. Raised in the mountainous region of the Mournful Peaks known as Peyennar, he must cope with the abrupt departure of his parents and a strange affinity to the elements. His uncle's decision to apprentice him to the Oathbound, sworn servants of the Pentharan king, makes it apparent he has a destiny well beyond the remote mountain settlement. When the Furies' agents assault Peyennar and the capital of the nation, Alingdor, the Lords of Penthar reveal Luc has an innate ability to track a relic stolen by the Earthbound--one central to the survival of the Nations. What he does not know is that the Furies are not only aware of his ancestry but are actively in search of him, their agents the Ardan and the Earthbound preparing to unleash their enmity on Peyennar and Penthar. Only Luc's growing power and veiled identity will be able to save his people and see them live through the second War of the Furies. The clash of tidal forces awaits.
