Katy meets a young man who she loves & wants to marry but her mother is very much against their plans. Then Katy gets sick and she finds out just how much her fiance really loved her! Then, there is pain and heartache over the broken engagement; sorrow that she had not listened to her mother. But Katy's life goes on through her marriage to a Godly man & motherhood and many tragedies. Her life is a constant struggle to "step heavenward", and poor Katherine, like so many of us, takes 1 step forward - 2 steps backward. - Excellent!

I enjoy reading books that are written about people's lives or real events. This book is very well written, easy to read and very engrossing. It is written as a journal, beginning when she is 16 years old and continues throughout her life.
For persons who are endevoring to follow Christ in a down to earth, practical way, this is the book to read. Her struggles are very real, and she suffers some very difficult things. Yet her learning and understanding is progressively revealed, and you have to laugh and cry along with her, because you have experienced similar things.
I highly recommend this book. It is uplifting, and encouraging. In a culture that encourages selfishness in too many areas, this book helped me to let go of some of those selfish areas. It also created more desire in me to please God.
