In addition to being a great scholar and contemplative, he was also a great bodhisattva, or mah�asattva, who inspired countless people to devote themselves to the practice of Dharma, with a special emphasis on Dzokchen. Like his predecessor, D�udjom Lingpa, D�udjom Rinpoch�e was also a great tert�on, or treasure revealer, as illustrated in his root verses, which form the basis of his commentary in this volume. The treasures revealed by D�udjom Lingpa and D�udjom Rinpoch�e together form what is known as the D�udjom Tersar - the New Treasure tradition of the D�udjom lineage-which in turn was passed on to Gyatrul Rinpoch�e, as well as many other distinguished lamas who became disciples of D�udjom Rinpoch�e. Within this book, you will find D�udjom Rinpoch�e's pith instructions in the form of root verses, entitled Guidance Transmitted One-on-One to Those of Good Fortune. These verses are actually part of a much larger cycle of treasure texts revealed by D�udjom Rinpoch�e on the wrathful manifestation of Padmasambhava known as Dorj�e Drol�o.
