The Best of Ted Dekker
When I gave my junior class the choice of any book by Ted Dekker to read, they overwhelmingly chose House, perhaps because the movie had just come out and everyone was talking about seeing the movie, but I like to think they chose House because it is Dekker's best. And that is difficult to say with so many excellent novels. Peretti and Dekker together have created a suspenseful, action/horror adventure with decidedly Christian themes. The book has some adult content, but is suitable for high school students. The book grabs you and does not let go. Two glowing recommendations from the class: no one turned the book in to me for extra credit and they all agreed, "The book is way better than the movie." Their words, not mine.

Intense, emotional, and creepy!
House is a great book filled with a great story that delivers where it counts. It is intense, visceral, and creepy. Personally, I consider Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti are masters of the suspense/horror genre and they truly deliver in this novel. I never really knew what to expect from one chapter to the next and couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what happens. My only draw back with this novel is that there was no sequel; probably couldn't even be one but it was that good. I just wanted more. Intense, creepy, visceral, and well written. Great late night read.

This book was interesting but also confusing. I read the book and understood what the author was trying to get across but sometimes I got lost. I read this book in about a week. Boggles the mind on how two different couples become twisted in with this family in the "house". Makes you wonder the What If in life.

This book will keep you guessing until the end. I could not put it down. After you read this book you will want to read more from Ted Dekker. A must read for anyone that likes thrillers.
P.S. dont watch the movie until you read the book. The movie is good but the book is 10 times better.
