Incomparable #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts delivers a tale of gut-level fear, human triumph, and the bonds that carry us through our darkest times... Reena Hale's destiny was shaped in the destructive--yet fascinatingly beautiful--fire that leveled her family's pizzeria when she was young. Now an arson investigator, she finds her strength and wits constantly tested, although sometimes the job seems like a snap compared to her love life. But she can't always blame the men. After all, a soot-caked woman barking orders and smelling of smoke isn't the biggest turn-on in the world. Then she meets Bo Goodnight, who seems different. He's been trying to find Reena for years, and now that she's close enough to touch, he has no intention of letting go. Nor does the man who has begun to haunt Reena's life--with taunting phone calls and a string of horrifying crimes. And as Reena tries desperately to trace the origins--of the calls, the fires, the hatred aimed in her direction--she will step into the worst inferno she has ever faced...

This is not light and fluffy. You don't put Nora Roberts in the same category as, say, Joseph Conrad. But no one with other things to do should take up this book. The other things will get short-changed. It is tackling some pretty heavy human issues with apocalyptic seriousnes. What seemed to me a slip in the plot structure may have had a meaning of its own. You realize almost from the beginning who the Bad Guy is and what he is out to do and why. But Reena doesn't. You squirm. You want to shake her. But is that very mental opacity something that dogs the human search and contributes its own share to the violence, deaths, and darkness of life? Whether or not you have a big Italian family, if you have won your way through to the knowledge of what family means, if strength and goodness matter to you, if you tend to fall for Roberts' characters, you will love the whole cast, pity the sociopathic Bad Guy, and hate to close the book.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. I really liked the author's writing style,it was done in such a way that the characters felt real, like people whom one could actually relate to. The story in itself I found to be raw ,edgy & I like the fact that it is very contemporary.A definite page-turner,very difficult to put down!

Very Good Read
This story is well written with depth and detail. It is clear that Ms. Roberts researched the topic of Arson Investigation in depth. This is a fast read that keeps you on the end of your seat. The use of timespan enhances the story and draws you in.
I would highly recommend this book.

Great Book
I enjoyed reading this book. I liked that it gave a detailed description of the characters and started at the very beginning of the story instead of the main character having flash backs of what happened. I would recommend this book to my friends.

Very gripping to the last page
I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. I had a hard time putting it down. It was very enticing and kept my interest all throughout. Nora has done it again.
