A must read WWII account
You'll never find most of these facts in the history books you were given. Excellent references follow the text; Story is compelling. One of the authors I will read and re-read.

Required reading!
Like "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" by Dee Brown, this book should be required reading for every high school student in American History class. This is a story of bravery, heroism, atrocity, loss, suffering, confession and reconciliation where all parties are caught up in the ultimate tragedies created by war. This is another book that illustrates so well the quote attributed to George Santayana, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
