First published in 1980, here is the account of the H-block protest, one of the most shocking and controversial situations in the tragic history of Northern Ireland. If you're looking for a great read & a great book on Ireland and her past, I recommend "Famine" by Liam O'Flaherty.
If you're looking to finally understand why Ireland has been at war within it's self , you need to read "On the Blanket." This doesn't always read like a novel but it is a wonderful history lesson.
