A thin, weary voice begins a tale punctuated by love and longing. From a well-worn notebook, an old man reads to his frail companion the story of a young man and woman bound together by an extraordinary love that would last for more than 50 years. The Notebook is a touching work of love lost and found. It reveals a man's persistent battle to reach the heart of a woman whose memory has robbed her of the most cherished moments of her life.

Definitely not my kind of book. Too short--read it in less than 4 hours (and I am not a fast reader). Too predictable--of course it ends the way you hope it will. I only indicated that I would recommend it to a friend because a couple of my friends really like love stories.

Great Love Story
An amazing love story. Sparks excels in the too-good-to-be-true genre. The book, in my opinion, was much better than the movie. Although the movie was good as well.

Nicholas Sparks' books tend to sound the same after a while, i'm sorry to say. But that wasn't the case with The Notebook, at all. Such an amazing story, I felt like crying tears of joy. Watching the movie first helps, though. The movie was beautiful. It helps paint a picture in your mind while reading and makes it all the better.
