my favorite Peter Diamond mystery
Our cynical detective has had a recent charge of police brutality (awfully unfair charge) ..and is now deep into a sleuth's challenge of trying to find the killer's identity while "door stopping" and hounding the local suspects. The action build up to a brilliant bit of detecting at the satisfying finale.
