The Second Jesse Stone Mystery Stiles Island is a wealthy and exclusive enclave separated by a bridge from the Massachusetts coastal town of Paradise. James Macklin sees Stiles Island as the ultimate investment opportunity: all he needs to do is invade the island, blow up the bridge, and get to work. To realise his investment, Macklin, along with his devoted girlfriend, Faye, assembles a crew of fellow ex-cons - all experts in their fields - including Wilson Cromartie, a fearsome Apache. James Macklin is a bad man - a very bad man. And Wilson Cromartie, known as Crow, is even worse. As Macklin plans his crime, Paradise Police Chief Jesse Stone has his hands full. He faces romantic entanglements in triplicate: his ex-wife, Jenn, is in the Paradise jail for assault; he's begun a new relationship with a Stiles Island realtor named Marcy Campbell; and he's still sorting out his feelings for attorney Abby Taylor. When Macklin's attack on Stiles Island is set in motion, both Marcy and Abby are put in jeopardy. As the casualties mount, it's up to Jesse to keep both women from harm.

I love the Jesse Stone movies that were made. However, I didn't like the bad language in the book.

jesse stone series
Was looking on Netflix one day for a movie to check out and came across "Stone Cold" starring Tom Selleck. Thought to myself -- sounds interesting -- but for a made-for-tv movie, I thought it was great. I discovered in was based on a novel by Robert B. Parker which was indeed one of a series with the main character Jesse Stone who is and ex-LA cop now small town chief of police. Well - I found myself wanting a more - so I started reading the series from the beginning with Trouble in Paradise being book 2. And can't wait to read #3. This series was also made into 7 tv movies and though they aren't filled with Hollywood special effects - I think both books and movies are excellent. Robert Parker also is the author of a series with another character Spenser - a Boston PI. Also which a hit tv series was made starring Robert Urich -- Spenser for hire.

Trouble in Paradise
Having first seen the Jesse Stone series on t.v., I found I wanted to read the books and see how they compare to the movies. I find I am enjoying the books just as much as the movies. If you haven'e seen the made for tv movies, I would recommend them as well.
