Schwartz has his own opinions on what a bench should be, but he covers the bases on what it should DO. I especially liked that he emphasized the function of workbenches rather than which famous woodworker used this or that style.

A MUST HAVE SHOP BOOK
Whether you have years of woodworking experience or just starting out you need to read this book and definitely use many of the ideas Mr. Schwarz hands out. Fasinating look at the history behind the work we like and the tools invloved, all centered around the workbench . He writes in plain shop-talk English with the right amount of wit and humor to keep you interested and smiling. I can't wait for the sequel.
