We have an earnest body of teachers in the schools of this country, quite equal in character and intelligence to any other department or profession. If they shall find this book of service to them in their severe and often arduous duties, if it shall encourage them to seek improved methods of instruction, or lead them to a greater personal interest in their pupils, if it shall in any way aid them in building sound character, the writer will be amply paid for his labor.
