Karin Slaughter is a virtuoso of psychological suspense. She can spin a tale like few others.
It's as if she's a great master painter. She brushes in, with fine strokes, the plot. the backstory, the complex characters and their relationships, the details, the truth, and the love until a masterpiece of suspenseful storytelling is revealed.
This subject matter of this narrative is dark and disturbing and graphic. But, as with the best suspense, a lot is left to the imagination. Which is scarier. It is handled well and necessary to the story.
