In the middle of the 19th century, Irish folklorist Patrick Kennedy was worried that all of the Irish folklore he had learned in his childhood would be lost to time. As a result, the Dublin bookseller began to collect and preserve the old medieval tales, eventually compiling them to publish the Legendary Fictions of the Irish Celts in 1866. For his efforts, Kennedy became one of the pioneers of the Irish folklore revival and is now remembered for the renaissance enjoyed by Celtic literature.
