El libro publicado bajo el t�tulo El Kybali�n apareci� por primera vez en 1908, en los Estados Unidos de Am�rica, bajo el seud�nimo Tres Iniciados. El Kybali�n es un acervo de conceptos filos�ficos sobre el universo cuya transmisi�n hasta antes de su publicaci�n s�lo se hab�a hecho de boca a o�do al interior de organizaciones secretas. A partir de la aparici�n del libro hom�nimo, que contiene los rasgos generales de este sistema de pensamiento atribuido a Hermes Trismegisto -fuente de todos los poderes ocultos-, el gran p�blico ha dado en suponer que la obra lo dice todo, cuando de hecho la mayor parte de su contenido consiste en las disertaciones y explicaciones del autor -o los autores- sobre los principios b�sicos del pensamiento herm�tico y algunos de sus axiomas. Aun as�, es posible que en realidad lo diga todo.Si bien existe un buen n�mero de versiones en espa�ol de El Kybali�n, la mayor�a de ellas parte de traducciones un tanto descuidadas o con pretensiones de corregir el estilo original del autor. En ellas, muchos t�rminos se han usado indiscriminadamente, lo que termina por confundir al lector.En esta traducci�n se ha cuidado especialmente de respetar el esp�ritu de la terminolog�a original as� como el estilo del autor, que en cierto modo revela su vocaci�n de instructor. Al final se incluye La Tabla de Esmeralda, �nico texto efectivamente atribuido a Hermes Trismegisto, del que se dice contener toda la verdad en unas cuantas l�neas. Es nuestro deseo que el lector alg�n d�a logre comprenderla cabalmente. Entretanto, le deseamos un buen camino.
