If we are lucky it lasts for days or months or years or even decades, until through time that connection becomes like air, unseen yet felt, and utterly a part of our being, defying even distance and death. This condition, this experience, this activity, this feeling, it cannot be known or adequately named. It can only be felt as a living presence. In our ignorance and frailty, we call it "love."
