Ratking - by Michael Dibdin
I've been reading Donna Leon's mysteries centered around Commissario Guido Brunnetti, a detective in Venice, Italy. As a result, I came across an interview with Donna Leon from 2009 where she talked about reading Michael Dibdin's books about a detective in Italy too.
Michael Dibdin was a Brit who wrote about Aurelio Zen, an altogether different personality from Brunnetti. Dibdin's writing style is very different from Leon's as you'd expect. I enjoyed reading Ratking, the first in Dibdin's series about Zen and I bought several of the books at one time from Alibris -- all used books in excellent condition. Unfortunately, Dibdin died in Seattle some years ago, but I look forward to reading more about Detective Zen.
