Born in fire. Not really born in fire - CONCEIVED in fire. In the fire of early heat of a love match. Prior to wedding she is conceived during a heated moment between her parents. Paid the price all her life for her mother believed the child was a penance for her sin. Treated poorly by her mother all her life (even beaten), she was adored by her father. The father was loved by many (except his wife) with a great nature and better heart. A man with little due to his propensity for "get rich quick" scams. He sounds endearing. Wresting a promise from Maggie to take care of his wife and her sister upon his death in her arms, Maggie agrees. She is an artist with a flare for creating beautiful blown glass items. She works for 5 years selling her work and trying to honor her promise to her father. Her work catches the eye of Rogan and the deals are set in place to make her famous - and rich. Finally able to fulfill her promise, she takes the money and sets her nasty mother up. Still the woman is unbearable and nasty. I realize she gave up/lost a lot in order to marry this man she saw a bum - but goodness. Maggie finds herself alternating between greed (and guilt for it) and fear of failure - all while falling for Rogan. He lost his heart and is patient and willing to wait for her to figure herself out while declaring his love. They fight, they love, they fight some more. During the time he is learning about her and finds what he must do to gain her heart. The story is a good one.
