I was looking forward to reading this book and it did not disappoint. Malala Yousafzai did not choose to be a hero in this life, but she definitely became one when she survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban in Pakistan when she was going home from school at age 14. Prior to this event, the Taliban did not target children or teenagers. This is a unique story told by Malala herself about growing up in the Swat Valley of Pakistan, and what life was like there before and after the Taliban arrived. She's gone on to become the youngest person ever to win the Nobel Peace Prize, has graduated from college in the UK, and runs the Malala Fund, a non-profit organization that advocates an education for all children globally. The book includes many photos of herself, her family, and her community in Pakistan and then in the UK.
