Fascinating Times
Fascinating times produced the most influential book published since 1610, and Nicolson describes with flair and sympathy the men who produced it--their conflicting politics and religious attitudes, the influence of the monarch who commissioned it, the marvel it became despite their differences. While he's obviously one of those among us who in our hearts believe God sent the King James Bible down to Moses on Mt. Sinai, Nicolson manages amazing objectivity along with an informed appreciation of the work's incomparable style. His own style and enthusiasm make his little book extremely hard to put down.
