We get a chance to experience Paris and French culture through Jennifer Scott's eyes and that alone makes the book enjoyable. But the most valuable aspect is the lessons that Jennifer learned during her stay with the " Chic Family" and how she has applied them to her life. She gives us much to think about the way we live our own lives. Enjoyable and thought-provoking!

Scott has identified many of the elements that make French life so agreeable, but her overly romanticized view does not take into account te enormous effort required to maintain "l'art de vivre". Read MFK Fisher for a much more realistic view. The burden falls mainly on women and can be exhausting.
And don't get me started on the French bureaucracy.
