"As We Were Saying" is a 1891 essay by American writer Charles Dudley Warner. Charles Dudley Warner (September 12, 1829 - October 20, 1900) was an American novelist and essayist. He was a close friend of Mark Twain, and co-authored "The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today" with him.
