As is obvious from the title, this is not a pleasant read. It is a collection of reports from the German occupiers that frequently reveal abuses and mass murder. It is an important work to show Poland as an initial case study in how the German way of war and subsequent occupation would unfold in the East. Poland clearly set the table for Barbarossa in terms of tactics, and the interplay between the Wehrmacht and the Einsatzgruppen. Helpful also in dispelling the myth of the "clean" Wehrmacht.
