This book is great at almost every level that a science fiction book can be evaluated. The characters are compelling, particularly the protagonist Friday. The speculative component is as accurate as it can be, foretelling things like the World Wide Web. This is not only one of my favorite Heinlein books, it's one of the best books I have ever read. It's also a great adventure story.

Top Notch Adventure and SciFi!
As one of Heinlein's later books, this one doesn't contain the obvious political messages of his earlier works, but instead focuses on Friday Jones, and "artificial person" and her journey to discover her true self and find love and acceptance. It's one of the most basic of human needs, which Heinlein explores from the interesting angle of genetic engineering. In addition to all that, though, this is a rocking adventure - Friday Jones is one mighty tough and resourceful woman! I'm sure she could take down Laura Croft any day of the week :-). IMHO, this is one of Heinlein's most enjoyable reads.
