I had seen the old Charlton Heston movie "Omega Man" and then "I Am Legend" and enjoyed both. Naturally, I wanted to read the book that they were both based on.
I only managed to get through the first 100 pages or so. It was so boring that I couldn't take it any longer. The night people or whatever you wanna call them were in fact vampires in this book. No wonder, that neither movie referred to them as vampires, it would have turned a lot of people off.

Maybe it's a better movie...
I found this novella gripping at first, as most post-apocalyptic tales are. Last man on earth fights off zombie vampires! The protagonist is a believable rollercoaster mix of determination, ingenuity, and despair. I even believed that he could teach himself about infection and devise vaccines, all on his own. But the story started to fall apart for me when the female of the new race comes to spy on him. I simply don't find her or the ending plausible. But maybe it's better as a movie...

Awesome Read
I loved the story! After I started reading it, it was difficult to put down. When I purchased the book I did not realize that it contained other stories that we equally good. Had wished that "I am Legend" was a longer story though - can't wait to see the film!

Excellent
One man verses a world of vampires. Trapped in his house he seeks only to destroy the ses vampires and befriend a stray dog. This novel keeps tossing surprises at the reader. The ending is great as it ties in with the title.
This is excellent writing full of tension. The vampires are intelligent killers and not mindless animals. wonderful use of characters in a fantastic setting.
