Excellent book for all of us who love forests and feel good around trees, but maybe don't know what forests and trees do for us, without our asking or input. Terrific writing, with large cast of characters (including the trees) and well drawn out story lines. Would recommend highly!! Loved the science, and look forward to reading more by this author.

Must-read
This book not only tells an excellent and compelling story, but it folds in an encyclopedic amount of eco-facts about man's relationship to and consumption of one of Nature's most vital resources-- trees. It is, at turns, maddening, tragic and hopeful. A certain wake-up call.
