First of all, I want to say that I read this book in a day, aside from the first look. This book wasnt always very easy to read, but it was very powerful. Honestly, it made me feel for immigrants and Muslims in a way Ive never felt before. This book pointed out so many problems within our nation including racism against Muslim people, domestic abuse, drug dealing, and injustice in the court system.
Sabaa Tahirs writing style made the book feel even more emotional than it already was. All throughout the book, I could almost feel Noor, Sal, and Misbahs pain and it was heartbreaking. Sal was an especially interesting character to me because while he made so bad choices, he also made some very selfless choices that werent easy to make. Noor is honestly such an amazing character. She is so incredibly strong and hardworking. I look up to her character so much. Overall, I think the plot of this book is great and I would definitely recommend you to read this book.
