"As the walls of the house at Predicament Avenue reveal their hidden truths, two women--generations apart--discover that fear and foreboding are no respecters of time. In 1910, Effie James is committed to doing anything to save her younger sister, who witnessed a shocking murder, leaving her mute and in danger of the killer's retribution. Effie must prove what her sister saw, but when a British gentleman arrives, he disrupts Effie's quest with his attempts to locate his wife, Isabelle Addington, who was last seen at the supposed crime scene in the abandoned house at 322 Predicament Avenue. Just as Effie discovers what she seeks, she finds that the blood staining the walls will forever link her to a scandal she couldn't imagine, and to a woman whose secrets promise to curse any who would expose them.A century later, Norah Richman grapples with social anxiety and grief as she runs her late great-aunt's bed-and-breakfast on Predicament Avenue. But Norah has little affection for the house and is committed only to carrying out her murdered sister's dreams until crime historian and podcaster Sebastian Blaine arrives to investigate the ghostly legacy of the house's claim to fame--the murder of Isabelle Addington. If Agatha Christie was the Queen of Crime then Jaime Jo Wright is the Queen of Christian Creepy Split Time. Night Falls On Predicament Avenue was every bit as eerie and as good as I had anticipated and maybe just a touch more....
Jaime Jo Wright really had me going with this story. From start to finish was I invested in Norah and Effie's lives and the mysteries surrounding both women. I was also kept guessing as tried to unwind the motives for each possible suspect and I was definitely in for a few surprises here and there.
Night Falls On Predicament Avenue was a very good read. It was hard to put down and it packed a pretty powerful punch on the topic of grief as several main characters struggle with different facets of it. Each has to find their own path to take the next step forward...and the next...
I am a diehard Jaime Jo Wright fan and it is the spookiness of her stories such as Night Falls On Predicament Avenue and the slightly gritty reality of them that keeps me coming back each time. Trust me, I will definitely be anxiously awaiting her next chillingly delightful release....

My current favorite JJW book
This is the eleventh Jaime Jo Wright book that I have read, and it is my very favorite! Both the 1901 tale and the present day tale get five stars for eeriness and suspense. They are filled with things that go bump in the night, dark secrets, unsolved murder, and fear. One would definitely have to think about the wisdom of reading this book late into the night. While Jaime Jo Wright always serves up a wonderfully spooky story, she also provides fodder for thought at a deeper level. In this novel it is on the theme of fear, not the type of fear her stories ignite, but the fear associated with death, and with living, fear that can cripple. I truly appreciate Wright's mastery of blending entertainment and life changing messages, but if you are in it just for the entertainment, don't worry, the message won't bog you down. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy and plan on purchasing a copy for my husband. Bethany House provided my complimentary copy via NetGalley without obligation.
