I took a course on Milton in College and discovered what a talented writer he really was. "Paradise Lost" is the best of the epic poems and quite controversial even today. This sympathetic take on the devil's fall from grace is entertaining and beautiful to read.
The second poem "Paradise Regained" is not as strong as the previous poem, but its great to read them side by side.
