You wish guys like Art Buchwald could go on forever. For a while, it looked like he would. This book is typical Buchwald even though it is terminal Buchwald. Leave it it to Art Buchwald to get good mileage out of his own demise. The interesting part is how he maintains his Buchwaldian world view even though he knows his world is ending. This is a Buchwald book that has death on every page but shows how he not only made the most of it but how he absolutely enjoyed it, finding that when the news got out it brought the ladies and gifts. He enjoyed the ladies. Also, everyone knew he liked cheesecake, so the cheesecakes started coming, and he literally ate and joked his way into oblivion. There's a message there somewhere, and since the same ending awaits each of us, we might as well learn. Pass the cheesecake, please.
